When Two Solar Eclipses Cross
There is a story unfolding in the heavenlies. It begins with the total solar eclipse that already took place over the United States on August 21, 2017.
Total eclipses of the sun do not occur often so, when they do, it causes quite a stir. As the day approaches, the news media tells us where it will best be seen and how to view it safely, without damaging our eyes. Everyone knows not to look directly into the sun.
Meteorologists in the vicinity keep an eye on the skies, reporting whether it will be clear enough to be viewed at all! And, of course, vendors capitalize on the buzz. They sell their posters, special glasses, kits for making viewing-boxes, and hats, and shirts and on and on. In 2017, for the first time ever, I even bought a commemorative t-shirt and I never do that!
My obsession with this eclipse really wasn’t because of the one in 2017. It was because of the one that is to come, only 7 years later. Seven years??? That grabbed my attention! This next eclipse will take place on April 8, 2024. Experts, say that every 375 years a total solar eclipse may occur over the same locale. Let that sink in. Every 375 years! But this is coming again in seven?
So, let’s be direct about this. The timing and the location are strategic and planned by God! It would be foolish to think otherwise, but what is He saying?
Astronomers say that the epicenter of each of these two eclipses is the town of Carbondale, Illinois. The “epicenter” is the place where the shadow cast onto the earth by the eclipse is most dense. In 2017 they were saying it would be [and will be again] “very total” in Carbondale. Carbondale is “X marks the spot!” But, why? God picked it for a reason and He planted each eclipse on the timeclock 7 years apart.
This is what leapt off the page at me. In searching out the history of Carbondale, it was not just the town that drew my attention but the YEAR. Hang in there; you will soon see why. In 1830-1831 Carbondale, Illinois became known as “Little Egypt.” The town is located about an hour’s drive [today] from Cairo, Illinois where the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers meet. In 1830-1831, that region, reminiscent of the Nile in Egypt, became the storehouse of sustenance for those who lived northward of Carbondale.
Speaking of 1830 … look at Psalm 18:30! “As for God, His way is perfect; the Word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him” There are no coincidences with God!
Crops in northern Illinois had failed miserably in 1830-1831 due to a very severe winter –it was called the Winter of Deep Snow– yet the crops to the south flourished. To avoid starvation, the people up north were compelled to travel southward to the Carbondale area to get food. It saved their lives.
It reminded the people of the story of Joseph in Genesis 41 where there was a dire 7 year famine in all the land, compelling people to come to Egypt to buy grain. Thus, they began to call the area “Little Egypt.”
So, with pinpoint accuracy, Carbondale, Illinois was the epicenter of the 2017 total solar eclipse and will be, again, 7 years later in 2024. That kind of gives me chills, does it you?
Four Major Rescue Operations Were Taking Place in 1830-1831!*
Now, this is what really grabbed my attention. When I saw the 1830-1831 date, I gasped. I knew that date was important because at that same time, right here in my hometown of Rochester, New York, the legendary Charles G. Finney Revival was taking place! Lives were SPIRITUALLY being saved the same year in Rochester, New York while people were PHYSICALLY being saved in Carbondale, Illinois. And guess what? The shadow of this coming eclipse comes directly over Rochester, too! As they often say, “You can’t make this stuff up!”
This encore celestial event on April 8,2024 is undoubtedly staged by the Lord God Almighty Himself. Extraordinary spiritual supply and physical supply all in the same year, 1830, with a solar eclipse pointing our attention back to it? There are no coincidences in God; so how does this impact us today? I really wish I knew.
First, I would be praying about it. Ask God. He knows. I have simply caught onto something and it has the awe-inspiring signature of God all over it. I do not have answers to the “why” but I do rejoice in the fact that both of these regions are being recognized for something good that was happening in their midst at that time. Famines are not good. Lots of people suffer. Feeding hungry people is VERY good!
Let’s face it, there was also a famine going on – a spiritual one – in Rochester before the Lord took over in 1830-1831 and did He take over! That revival burst onto the scene at a time when the spiritual climate in Rochester was dead. Hearts were stone-cold hard. No one wanted to preach the gospel here. It was impossible to break through. But prevailing prayer and a setup by God produced a revival through Charles G. Finney that was so earthshaking, it is still being talked about and studied today. It is time for Finney Revival 2.0 to begin and, actually, it has! Rochester has pockets of a spiritual awakening happening right now. By next April, who knows what it might be! I’m counting on it being amazing.
My curiosity is at an all-time high. I want to know what else was going on in 1830-ish in other locations that the path of the eclipse will mark. Look at the map. Does anything ring a bell? *We Found One => Mexico!
* In further exploration of the mysteries of the two solar eclipses, we found another significant 1830 event that took place in the region of the shadow-track on April 8, 2024. So, this is number 3: Mexico! [Texas was part of Mexico in 1830, by the way. Texas did not become a state until 1845.]
In the fall of 1829, under the leadership of Vicente Ramon Guerrero Saldaña, Mexico officially abolished slavery. The new law would also impact Texas, as well. Texas was, at that time, part of Mexico. Slavery was deeply entrenched in the culture in Texas so Mexico granted them one year to adjust to the new law.
I cannot confidently confirm whether or not Texas complied. One article I read said that they were given till 1830 to come into line with the new policy but it appears that the enforcement of that law was spotty, at best. Everyone does agree, though, that 1830 was Mexico’s first full year of being a slavery-free nation!
And, as you can see on the map below, Mexico and Texas both are positioned directly under the shadow of this Great Eclipse of April 8, 2024.
*Number 4: And, yes, another great “rescue operation” was underway in the early 1830s… kind of like Robin Hood ???
As with the others, this rescue was a BIG DEAL and it was all about America’s money. President Andrew Jackson was in a bitter dispute with the bankers and politicians of the the early 1830’s who favored having a single, federal bank.
Jackson strongly disagreed. He emphatically believed that a central bank was tyrannically placing the people in bondage to a few, powerful money brokers who were only out for one thing – themselves! He was dead-set against it and was determined to block the ratifying of the bank’s re-charter.
Here is what he said:
“Unless the corrupting monster should be shraven with its ill gotten power, my veto will meet it frankly & fearlessly.”

February 19, 1832
Basically he was saying “You close that bank or I will!”
Andrew Jackson was not a perfect president, but in this instance he was spot-on! The battle became known as “The Bank War” and, to destroy their “ill gotten power,” President Jackson did an end-run. He collapsed that evil bank into oblivion by starving them out! He didn’t wait for Congress to come to their senses, which was never going to happen.
Instead, he removed the federal deposits from the bank and, like an 1830’s Robin Hood, gave control of the money back to the people by depositing it all in their local banks around the country. Talk about a brilliant maneuver. Banks with no money cannot survive. He killed the Federal Bank!
The Solar Eclipse of April 8, 2024 points to GOOD things!
In review, the coming total eclipse’s path, the shadow, is a sign. Many people have associated it with many things, some of them ominous in nature. What we have recognized is that shadow of the eclipse (The shadow of the Almighty – see Psalm 91) marks a number of outstanding events that took place in North America in and around the year 1830.
Born out of significant need – spiritual, physical, financial and geo-political – God met each cry for help with a mighty move of His goodness.
NEW LIFE: He turned a spiritual wasteland into a spiritual “Garden of Eden” through the Finney Revival of Rochester, New York.
SUSTENANCE: He fed starving people from northern Illinois with His bountiful supply from bumper crops in Carbondale Illinois that same year.
SLAVES SET FREE: Likewise, in an outstanding move of righteousness, the king of Mexico declared slavery to be null and void. Texas was impacted by that slave-freeing law, as well.
MONEY RETURNED to the RIGHTFUL OWNERS: And the President of the United States was fighting for the peoples’ right to govern their own financial destiny by snatching their hard-earned money out of the hands of the elite and returning it to them.
See what God did! The Lord wants us to remember just how good He is. Jesus said it Himself. He told us to “fear not” and that it is “The Father’s good pleasure to give us the kingdom!” Luke 12:32 The KINGDOM! Wow! Pause, and think of that.
So, on April 8th, fear not, remember your eclipse glasses, sit back and enjoy the heavenly show!
The path of 2nd total solar eclipse in 2024 will cross over Rochester NY, Carbondale IL , Mexico and Texas on April 8, 2024. I wonder what God will do???

In light of much speculation, fear and trepidation that is filling the hearts, minds and airwaves concerning the coming solar eclipse, we decided to add a prayer of redemption to this post. We thought of that scripture in Malachi that refers to the Lord as the “Sun” of righteousness.
Much of the talk emphasizes our need to repent, lest something bad happen. Surely it is very good for us to examine ourselves and consider where we stand with God. He is quick to forgive. He LOVES to forgive. He paid the ultimate price to do just that. We must simply ask Him and mean it from our hearts.♥ Let’s do that now!
Our prayer is this: “Lord, we ask that You would touch the hearts and minds of every person – from the very youngest to the eldest of us all – with revelation from on high. Lord, please forgive us right now for sinning against You. We are so, so sorry. Cleanse us from our sin and make us new.
Lord, please let everyone see something from Heaven as they look up into the sky. In Your love, please show us the Son of Righteousness, Your Son Jesus, as we look at the sun, shielded for a moment in time by Your marvelous moon. May we all see Jesus and call upon His Name. Amen.”
