Above All, Love Each Other Deeply

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8  On March 1, 1999 Kerry Reid, a prophet from Canada, visited Rochester at the invitation of our beloved pastor, Jurgen Hoomans.  Kerry decreed, “In your life, says the Lord, I’m going to harness and hook you up, says God, with Me and we’re going to walk through this Garden of Blessing. . .  I’m going to give you a web page, and I’m going to begin to do e-mailing.  I’m going to cause interaction to go across even the internet, a big page, a good page where people are going to be able…

    When Two Solar Eclipses Cross

There is a story unfolding in the heavenlies.  It begins with the total solar eclipse that already took place over the United States on August 21, 2017.   Total eclipses of the sun do not occur often so, when they do, it causes quite a stir. As the day approaches, the news media tells us where it will best be seen and how to view it safely, without damaging our eyes.  Everyone knows not to look directly into the sun. Meteorologists in the vicinity keep an eye on the skies, reporting whether it will be clear enough to be viewed at all!  And, of course, vendors capitalize on the buzz.…

    Be Made Whole

Psalm 142:7 (AMP) says:  “Bring my life out of prison, that I may confess, praise and give thanks to Your Name and the righteous will surround me to praise You, for You will deal bountifully with me”. Most everyone has been stuck in a prison of some kind during his lifetime – one of poor health, emotional bondage, financial lack.  The circumstances can be limitless in nature and duration.  “But, our God” as is often said, already delivered us when Jesus came to set the captives free.  His mandate from The Father was stated in Luke 4:18: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me…

    The Our Father

Being Father’s Day weekend, our love and best memories hopefully go to all the fathers in our lives.  Though some may have embraced their role a bit more skillfully than others, we will share with them all our love and respect, with wishes for joy and health.  Being a father can’t be easy all the time! But there is a Father who does love us perfectly and never makes a mistake. So, we all, men and women alike, rejoice and thank Him for being our heavenly Dad! Jesus, our Messiah, came to earth as a gift to us from this Father.  It was the Father’s desire that all men would…

    Love Never Fails

Happy Mother’s Day (and let me add Happy Father’s Day here, too).  And that’s where my Hallmark moment ends! To those of you who have happy, or at the very least, functioning or tolerable family situations, have a wonderful day!  You deserve it.  My birth family was to me the picture of a happy family.  We were totally blessed relationally and I cherish every memory.  That’s how I know it’s possible to have.  But again, that was decades ago and the likelihood of that happening was greater than it has been these last many years.  So please enjoy one another on any level possible, whether near or far.  If you’ve…

    Eternal Life Now!

About 25 years ago, a prophet spoke over me that I would write a book telling of all we’ve seen in Rochester, N.Y.  It took me 20 years to start!  But then I heard the Lord say, (as we also started this website last year) “I told you to do this 25 years ago and then gave you the miracles and victories to share.”  Truly the Good News!  Again, it chronicled what seemed to be the darkest period of our lives.  We were a group of women who supernaturally assembled from 8 different churches because we had the same thing in common – our husbands had left us for other…

    The Goodness of God

“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will continue to perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus (the time of His return)” Philippians 1:6 AMP Our Mighty Lord is faithful to complete all good things in you and me.  Sometimes it’s by Sovereign rescue, which I want to share during this time together.  But as we mature in Him, we partner to get His will accomplished.  Make no mistake, His will is always “salvation”.  The Greek is “sozo”.  The Hebrew meaning of that word is “to save, to keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or…

    This is Prophetic

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  We pray all is well and you are enjoying great blessings!  And yes, I only could write one post – which might be a relief for you!! Anyway, to catch up on how we got here, I thought I would share a little prophetic background with you.  Thirty years ago, God gave us some insight as to what He would be doing. It came through a very accurate prophet who visited our city and declared: “In your life, says the Lord, I’m going to harness and hook you up, says God, with Me, and we’re going to walk through this Garden of Blessing, says…

Weeping May Last For The Night

Let me preface this with the fact that I did not come happily, skipping and jumping, into this prayer group that changed my life. I came as most do, broken, beaten, and in an emotional pain that can only be compared to that of grief.  The type of grief that is linked to losing the one you love most in this world. It stabs, weakens, and paralyzes. Lord, where do I go from here? How do I continue to walk? How can I pray? How can I breathe? How can I literally go on living?  It all began at church one Sunday morning. I cannot tell you what the preaching had been about, but…

    Eight Days to Freedom

Why is our site called GOOD NEWS ROC?  We could have named it BAD NEWS, SAD NEWS, NO NEWS, FRIGHTENING NEWS  etc.  Most of our stories start out with circumstances that give what would seem to be legitimacy to any of these titles.  Why “Good News”?  I can tell you a little later how we got there if you choose to engage with some thoughts. Today it felt like ‘’SAD NEWS ROC”.  Almost everyone I talked with felt sad, left behind, on guard or disappointed.  It was their week for tougher circumstances.  Some live in an almost constant state of hypervigilance trying to ward off the next attack and the…

Operating in the Flesh? One Couple’s Story

Our group has done a lot of marriage ministry – mostly because our group made a lot of marriage mistakes. Hooray for us! Because: “When I am weak, He is strong.” (2Cor. 12:10) Because:  “Praise be to God, Who always causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus.” (2Cor. 2:14) Because: “No weapon forged against us shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against us, we ourselves shall refute. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord. This is the vindication that comes from God.” (Isaiah 54:17) I’d rather have something that comes from God, gives Him all the Glory, and has His strength to sustain it rather than…

  • Possessing Rochester in the Spirit

    Possessing Our Land

Years ago, while attending the largest city church in Rochester, NY, a wonderful women’s pastor asked me to take over her class for an evening, as she was going to have to be away. Needless to say, I was honored, but admitted “I’m not a Bible teacher- but I’ll do my best.” My dearest friend, a well-respected black woman named “Queenie” (Yep! I said it: “black” and “woman”) had the gift of discerning of spirits and attended that class with me. She said, “You know there are at least 6 witches in this class!” (and Queenie was never wrong!) Fear set in like nobody’s business. I was no stranger to spiritual…

    Demons Are Real!

Early on in my personal journey, when I was separated from my husband for a season, I thought that he was the enemy. That lie is one of satan’s favorite strategies.   But Ephesians 6:12 makes it very clear that people are not our enemy.  “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places.”  Soon into our journey our prayer group began to learn about the weapons of our warfare and who the real enemy is. We began to learn about the authority of the believer through Kenneth E. Hagin, John MacMillan and…

    Whose Report Will You Believe?

In the many battles of life, one very important question will arise. "What do I believe?" Circumstances shout loudly "This is too big!" or "It is impossible!" The so-called facts may be daunting but we have learned with experience that nothing is impossible with the true and living God.
